Lectio Daily

Terms of Use

Lectio Daily is offered by Miguel Gamarra, an individual, with address at Proviv. Res. La Esperanza, Carabayllo, Lima 15121, Perú. These terms are the agreement between you and that person for using the app: by downloading or using it you accept them, and if you do not accept them, do not use it. The website lectiodaily.com can be read without accepting anything.

What we allow

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules, including with Family Sharing.

The app, its design and its own texts are ours. The Bible texts are not: they have their own licence, below.

Your account

You don’t need an account to read. With an account (email, Apple or Google) your reading is saved and you can use groups. Keep access to your account safe: you are responsible for what is done with it.

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. What we keep and what is deleted is explained in the privacy policy.

Groups

Before you create or join a group you accept its rules. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or for people who abuse others:

  • Nothing offensive, no harassment, no spam — not in your account name nor in a group name.
  • Other members see your name, your streak, the chapters you read that week and your progress in the challenge; never your notes, prayers or bookmarks.
  • You can report a member or a group, and block anyone: you stop seeing each other in all your groups.
  • The person who created the group reviews reports about its members and can remove someone, including without letting them back. If several members report the group name, it is hidden until it is changed.
  • We review reports about the person who created a group and about people who gather reports. We may remove a group or close an account that breaks these rules, without notice.

Premium

Premium adds features to the app (what it includes is at lectiodaily.com/en/premium). It is bought inside the app and charged by Apple to your Apple account; the price is shown before you buy.

The monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before, in your Apple ID settings. If the yearly plan has a one-week trial and you cancel before it ends, you are not charged; any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy. The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment.

With “Restore purchase” you get Premium back on another device with the same account. Refunds are handled by Apple.

The Bible texts

The Bible texts are not ours and are not subject to these terms: they are governed by their own licence, which takes precedence over any restriction of the app or the App Store, including digital rights management (DRM).

The Versión Biblia Libre (© Jonathan Gallagher and Shelly Barrios de Ávila) is distributed under CC BY-SA 4.0; the Bíblia Livre (© Diego Santos, Mario Sérgio and Marco Teles), under CC BY 4.0; and the World English Bible is in the public domain. You may copy, share and adapt them under their licence.

We publish them with the text unchanged. The same versions can be read and downloaded without DRM at lectiodaily.com and at eBible.org. The details are on the credits page.

Fair use

Don’t use the app for anything illegal, don’t try to get into other people’s accounts or our systems, and don’t automate requests to our server. If you do, we may close your account.

Apple

This agreement is between you and us, not with Apple. We alone are responsible for the app and its content, for its maintenance and support, and for addressing any claim about it: product liability, failure to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement or to consumer protection law, or infringement of a third party’s intellectual property rights. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.

If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price you paid for it; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.

By using the app you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

When using the app you also comply with any third-party terms that apply to you (for example, your carrier’s). Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement: once you accept it, Apple may enforce it against you.

Warranty and liability

The app is provided as is. We do our best for it to work and for its content to be accurate, but we don’t guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages from using it or being unable to use it. Nothing here limits the rights that the law of your country gives you as a consumer.

Changes and ending the agreement

If we change these terms, the date below changes and, if the change is significant, we will tell you in the app. You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time; the agreement also ends if you break these terms.

These terms are governed by Peruvian law, and for anything that is not a consumer matter the courts of Lima, Peru have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this takes nothing away from you: you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live and may bring a claim before the courts of your own domicile.
